Delete your Critic Shelf account
Last updated 29 September 2026
How to delete your Critic Shelf account, or just part of your data — and exactly what happens to it.
Delete your account in the app
Open your profile, tap the three dots to open Settings, then Account settings → Delete account. The app shows you what is about to be removed and asks you to confirm.
Deletion is immediate and permanent. We email the account's address to confirm it happened.
Can't sign in?
Email support@criticshelf.com from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm by replying to that address, then delete the account within 7 days.
Delete some of your data, keep the account
Profile photo: Edit profile → Remove photo. Bio, display name and taste tags: edit or clear them in Edit profile.
Shelves: open the shelf and delete it. Watchlist and follows: take the title off your watchlist, or unfollow the person, from their page.
A review: on the title's page, tap Reviewed to open it, then Delete review. Your rating of the title stays.
A rating: on the title's page, tap Clear beside your rating. If you have reviewed the title, delete the review first — the review carries the rating.
What is deleted
Your account: email address, username, password and sign-in sessions, and any Apple sign-in authorisation is revoked.
Your profile: display name, bio, profile photo, taste tags and top-five picks.
Everything you created: ratings, reviews, watchlist, watched episodes, shelves, follows (both directions), blocks, the reports you filed, your votes on reviews, your notifications and your push-notification tokens.
What is kept, and for how long
A moderation record: a note that the account (its username and internal id) was deleted, plus any reports other people filed about it and the moderator decisions on them. It is kept for up to 2 years, to deal with abuse and legal requests, and then removed.
Product analytics and crash reports, which are tied to an internal id rather than your email or username, stay with our processors PostHog and Sentry until their own retention periods expire.
