Studying a landscape painting at Youmeng Xianju, Yu Wanwan looks too closely and finds herself inside it, living in a dynasty long past. A betrothal is arranged for her before she has any say in it, to Ji Liangyue, the most powerful man at court. What she discovers about him sends her looking for any way out of the match, and when that fails, for any way out of the painting.
